Nicaragua "Flores del Cafe" Coffee Women's Fund Projects
"Flores del Café" is produced exclusively by women and remunerated with a premium. The goal of the Women's Fund Project is to provide microcredits to women in Jinotega through its financial support. They can thus acquire land from the cooperative for agricultural projects, such as for cultivating "Flores del Cafe" coffee. This is needed for planting and harvesting the coffee, purchasing machinery, installing irrigation systems – everything required for coffee cultivation. Through these microcredits and the production of coffee, women can contribute equally with their husbands to improving their family's quality of life, strengthening their independence. In the past, loans were denied to women, but land ownership is the key to obtaining microcredits. The aim of the Women's Fund Projects is for these microcredits to initiate a shift in thinking and establish the benefit of female land ownership, as currently only 15% of land is held by women. Traditionally, the father passes land on to the son. Through acquisition by women, the mother can bequeath the cultivated land to her daughters for this exceptional "Flores del Cafe" coffee.
"Flores del Cafe" - A Hand-Crafted Highland Coffee
"Flores del Cafe" is cultivated at an altitude of 1100m to 1400m, a true highland coffee. It is hand-picked with great care. This Arabica coffee is available in the Cattura and Catuai varieties. "Flores del Cafe" captivates with its light acidity and enormous richness of aromas, and is versatile in preparation, whether as espresso or coffee – a true delight. A velvety taste without bitterness characterizes "Flores del Cafe".
