Coffee - connoisseurs know it, coffee from the French Press is more aromatic and perceived as stronger than coffee made with a traditional paper filter. Invented in France around 1850, the name French Press was born. The French Press, also known as a press pot, plunger pot, coffee press, coffee plunger, coffee maker, or cafetière, does without this paper filter, making it an environmentally friendly coffee maker.

The filter screen becomes finer due to coarser coffee particles during pressing in the coffee press; the smallest coffee grounds remain in the coffee, which makes French Press coffee so special in taste. For preparation with the press pot, coarsely ground coffee is recommended. Easy to use and clean, the cafetière is a real treasure in your kitchen. French Press Tips for Brewing Coffee

To help the coffee retain its temperature longer, pre-warm your French Press by adding boiling water first. A standard coffee scoop holds 6-8 grams of coffee; this amount is sufficient for about 125 ml of prepared coffee. So, how much coffee grounds or how many full coffee scoops do you need for a litre of coffee? That's eight scoops. No coffee scoop to hand? A tablespoon measures roughly the same amount.
The coffee grounds should be coarse for optimal, even extraction, resulting in a full-bodied coffee. We recommend our Gastroback coffee grinder with a conical burr grinder, but naturally, a hand-operated coffee grinder with adjustable settings is just as suitable.
The optimal temperature for brewing coffee with a French Press is 95°C. After pouring the water (shortly after boiling), stir gently to ensure all the coffee grounds are submerged. Then, place the lid on the coffee maker, with the plunger resting just above the surface of the coffee.
Allow the coffee to extract in the French Press for 4 minutes – this is the ideal brewing time for a rich and nuanced coffee. Coffee left to brew for too long will become bitter, while coffee that hasn't extracted for long enough will be watery and thin.
After 4 minutes, slowly and evenly press down the plunger. Your full-bodied, nuanced French Press coffee is ready. To prevent further extraction, please enjoy it immediately!
