Merry Christmas from the coffee roastery - National Park Partner Bavarian Forest
The year 2025 is drawing to a close, and in our roastery in Zwiesel, it smells wonderfully of freshly roasted festive aromas. Before we bid farewell to the contemplative holidays, we would like to look back with you on an eventful year.
It was a year full of special moments, new beginnings and – as always – a great deal of passion for the perfect coffee. We wish you and your loved ones a merry and restful Christmas, as well as a cosy time during the holidays. Thank you for letting our coffee accompany you throughout 2025!
Kaffeerösterei Kirmse - Now officially a National Park Partner
To round off the year, we have some very special news. It's now official: Since 11th December 2025, we have been a certified National Park Partner and support the association as a new supporting member. The festive certification took place in a very special setting at the Wildniscamp am Falkenstein – so it's still very fresh, just like our coffee! We are absolutely delighted to now be part of this strong network of currently 74 partner businesses.
For us as a roastery in Zwiesel, this is a promise to our homeland: We want to make an active contribution to the preservation of our nature and to sustainable tourism. As National Park Director Ursula Schuster emphasised during our award ceremony, this partnership is not an empty phrase for us, but a "clear mandate for action" for sustainability, environmental protection and resource management.
As ambassadors of the philosophy "Let nature be nature", we promote projects in close cooperation that combine the protection of valuable natural areas with fair direct trade. We are proud to be part of this passionate initiative for our unique forest landscape. On the website of the Bavarian Forest National Park you can read all about our exciting day again, if you wish.
Enjoyment that does good: Our National Park Coffees
In our roastery, this partnership and our commitment come alive through two very special roasts: our Kaffee de Luchs (Lynx Coffee) and the Nationalparkgenuss (National Park Delight) from El Salvador. These two coffees are far more than just first-class indulgence – they are the ambassadors of our bridge to Central America. While the "Kaffee de Luchs" symbolically represents the wilderness of our homeland, the "Nationalparkgenuss from El Salvador" brings the aroma of the Montecristo region directly to your cup.
What's special: With both coffees, we actively support the nature conservation projects and the people in the Montecristo National Park region via the association Flüchtlingshilfe Mittelamerika e.V. (Central America Refugee Aid e.V.).
The Bridge to El Salvador: When cooperation lives on
A project that makes us particularly proud shows how sustainably aid can have an impact over the years. Although the official partnership between the Montecristo National Park (El Salvador) and the Bavarian Forest National Park ended, it was initially designed for only three years. However, the connection to the protected area there has remained. We see ourselves as an important bridge-builder here, to continue the connection on a private and economic level more intensely than ever.
At the beginning of the year, together with National Park Director Ursula Schuster, we had the pleasure of presenting a donation of almost €1,700 to Jürgen Tönnesen from Flüchtlingshilfe Mittelamerika e.V. (Central America Refugee Aid e.V.).
- €1,000 came directly from the sales proceeds of our coffees "Nationalparkgenuss from El Salvador" and "Kaffee de Luchs”.
- €683 were contributed by dedicated visitors at the Hans-Eisenmann-Haus via a donation box.

This money flows entirely into the Montecristo National Park region. Specifically, it was used to support the local rangers with better equipment for their work in the cloud forest. In addition, we promote ecological family gardens in the settlements there, so that people can sustainably produce their own staple foods.
Doing good together: The "Christmas Sparks" campaign
Particularly lovely: The children were not forgotten either. Together with Lindberg Primary School and Zwiesel Secondary School, we once again collected numerous Christmas parcels. The schools maintain their own partnerships with village schools in Montecristo – an exchange that bears fruit from environmental education to ranger deployment.
We are building on precisely this valuable work through our participation in the "Christmas Sparks" campaign of the Flüchtlingshilfe Mittelamerika e.V. (Central America Refugee Aid e.V.). As an official collection point here in Zwiesel, it was a pleasure for us to motivate you to participate: many of you lovingly packed a parcel yourselves, had a parcel packed for the children in El Salvador directly at our roastery, or followed the call for donations on our flyers.
We were able to receive so many gifts that will bring sparkling eyes to El Salvador. Thank you for this great help and your trust – together we have shown how much we can achieve as a community!
