Flat White - What Kind of Coffee Is That?

The Flat White is on everyone's lips - literally. But what kind of coffee is the Flat White? Do you also find yourself in a café, wanting to order? On the extensive menu of drinks, alongside classic Italian coffee specialties, you'll also find numerous coffees completely unknown to you, such as this Flat White. Most of the time, you end up opting for your familiar and delicious caffè latte or filter coffee, without knowing what you're missing out on with the Flat White.

This coffee recipe, originating from Australia and New Zealand in the 1980s, is a variant of the cappuccino, possessing the same core ingredients but in a different composition. “Flacher Weisser”, which directly translates to “Flat White”, has a double espresso as its base and is adorned with a flatter foam crown. The milk foam, just like with its Italian relative, is beautifully showcased with artfully decorative Latte Art. But what else distinguishes Flat White and Cappuccino from each other? Is Flat White or Cappuccino stronger? How can I make a Flat White myself? We'll clarify and provide tips.
