Kaffee de Luchs: Specialty Coffee for the Lynx and Strong Women
Imagine you're drinking your cup of coffee – and thereby protecting the lynx in the Bavarian Forest and empowering women in Guatemala. Sounds good? Kaffee de Luchs makes exactly that possible.
This isn't just about caffeine and taste. It's about responsibility, nature, people, and enjoyment that goes deeper. With every cup of Kaffee de Luchs, you help protect the lynx in the Bavarian Forest National Park and support women in Guatemala in forging their own path.

You connect your everyday life with a movement that preserves nature and strengthens communities. Sip by sip, with a coffee that benefits not only you but also the world.
The Lynx Project in the Bavarian Forest National Park
The lynx is a silent guardian of our forests. Its paws barely audibly touch the ground, its gaze remains vigilant as it roams through the forests of the Bavarian Forest. But even if it can hide well, it needs our help to survive in its home.
With your Kaffee de Luchs, you actively support the protection of this fascinating animal. From every pack sold, €1 flows directly into lynx monitoring and protection projects in the Bavarian Forest National Park. This way, you help protect the lynx, document its tracks, and ensure its long-term preservation in our forests.
Why is this so important? Because as a returnee to our forests, the lynx is not only fascinating but also plays an important role in the natural balance. It ensures stable wildlife populations, healthy forests, and is a symbol of successful nature conservation. With every cup of Kaffee de Luchs, you choose to protect nature and biodiversity on your doorstep and worldwide – while enjoying your moment of indulgence.

Kaffeerösterei Kirmse works closely with the Bavarian Forest National Park to ensure the long-term protection of the lynx. But we also advocate for nature and people beyond our national borders: Together with the Montecristo National Park in El Salvador, we support the sustainable protection of this unique natural area – the origin of our National Park Indulgence Coffee from El Salvador. These projects are close to our hearts, and we regularly support them through direct contact and on-site assistance.
The Cafecita Coffee Project: Café de Mujeres
In the highlands of Guatemala, around the village of Lampocoy, a coffee grows that is far more than just a beverage. Here, 57 women have consciously decided to forge their own path – independent of men, on their own small plantations. In a world where coffee cultivation is mostly in male hands, they have united to produce their own specialty coffee: the Café de Mujeres – Coffee by Women.
This special women's coffee originated from the Cafecita project, which for many years has stood for fair trade, transparency, and respect towards the people in Lampocoy. The coffee is cultivated using small-scale mixed farming and organic-biological circular economy practices – traditionally, sustainably, and in harmony with nature.
“The quality of life and the dignity of people are a very important and indispensable part of the quality of our coffee,” says Cordts, initiator of Cafecita. Precisely this attitude also shapes the Café de Mujeres. The women take responsibility for their fields, care for the coffee trees with dedication, and harvest the cherries by hand – all on their own land.
Cafecita organizes the processing and direct export: Without speculation, without intermediaries, directly to roasteries in Europe. “We control the quality and cultivation methods and pay a price that is at least 15% above the world market level,” Cordts explains further. This enables projects such as schools, health posts, computer centers, or reforestation to be realized in the region – tangible aid that creates perspectives, prevents causes of migration, and protects the climate.
Honesty and absolute transparency are the foundation of Cafecita. All figures, quality analyses, and residue reports are regularly published – open and traceable. For you, this means: You know exactly what you're drinking – and whom you are supporting with it.
With your Kaffee de Luchs, you are part of this movement: You empower women, support genuine local development, and contribute to ensuring that coffee cultivation can continue in harmony with people and nature in the future. The Nature Around Lampocoy – Home of Women's Coffee
Lampocoy is nestled in a green mountainous landscape, crisscrossed by small paths, shaded groves, and fertile soils. In this remote region in eastern Guatemala, time sometimes seems to stand still – yet life pulsates here in every leaf, every drop of rain, every morning mist that settles over the slopes.
The region is characterized by volcanic rock, which makes the soils particularly nutrient-rich – ideal conditions for cultivating high-quality Arabica beans. The coffee grows here in mixed cultivation with banana plants, orange trees, avocados, and shade plants that stabilize the microclimate and promote biodiversity.
Here, coffee cultivation is not a monoculture system, but part of an ecological balance nurtured by the people – often over generations. Water sources, hillside terraces, traditional cultivation methods: All of this contributes to the fact that the women's coffee from Lampocoy is not only convincing in taste but also produced in an ecologically responsible manner.
🌱 No use of chemicals
🌳 No monoculture
💧 Instead, water sources, terrace farming, and intergenerational knowledge

For the 57 women coffee farmers of Café de Mujeres, this landscape is more than a workplace – it is home, livelihood, and future. Their work in harmony with nature shows: Sustainability begins where respect for the earth meets lived experience. When you drink a cup of Kaffee de Luchs, you not only enjoy the result of this connection to nature – you also protect it.
The Taste of Café de Mujeres
When you first experience Café de Mujeres in your cup, you immediately notice: This is no ordinary coffee. There's a clarity, a delicate balance – and an aroma that tells stories. Of volcanic soils, of high altitudes, of the rhythm of the day in Lampocoy.
The coffee is hand-picked, washed processed, and then dried under the sun of Guatemala – carefully, gently, and with a trained eye for every bean. This traditional, precise processing preserves the complex aromas and brings out their full depth.
In taste, a harmonious cup with notes of dark chocolate, caramel and pecan awaits you. A pleasant sweetness combines with a clear, lively acidity that gives the coffee freshness without being obtrusive. The body is soft, round and velvety, the finish is long and subtle – a coffee that doesn't push itself to the forefront but delights with gentle notes.

Every roast at Kaffeerösterei Kirmse is tailored to the unique characteristics of this bean. The goal is not just a balanced flavor profile – but also to make the origin, the women's work, and the soul of this coffee palpable. With Café de Mujeres, you choose not only quality in the cup, but a coffee with character, conviction, and origin. One that makes an impact – on you and far beyond.
What Your Coffee Achieves – Here and on the Other Side of the World
With your Kaffee de Luchs, you do more than just enjoy a good coffee – you become part of two powerful movements:
✓ One that empowers women in Guatemala, enables them to have a fair livelihood, and makes them visible.
✓ And one that protects the lynx in the Bavarian Forest – an animal that, like no other, stands for wilderness, freedom, and the balance of our nature.
From every pack sold, €1 flows directly into the lynx project of the Bavarian Forest National Park. This helps finance monitoring and protection measures – so that the lynx can remain in our forests. At the same time, with Café de Mujeres, you support women who produce their coffee independently and autonomously, accompanied by the social direct import project Cafecita.
So you're not just drinking any coffee. You're drinking a specialty coffee from an organic circular economy, directly traded, fairly paid, transparently processed – and with impact. For the people. For the animals. For the planet. Conscious enjoyment begins with the decision of what you buy. With Kaffee de Luchs, you choose taste with conviction – and a world where appreciation matters more than volume.

Specialty coffee – also known as Specialty Coffee – stands for the highest quality: hand-picked, single-origin, gently processed, and with an excellent flavor profile. According to the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), only coffees with at least 80 out of 100 points belong to this category. Learn more in our blog post: What is Specialty Coffee?
